Dennis Hurley has been involved with the martial arts for twenty five years. He has earned Black Belts in Tae Kwon Do, Kyokushin-Kai, and Bushido-Kai Karate as well as holds ranks in Yanagi-ryu Aiki Jujitsu, Shorin-ryu Karate, Kobudo, and has a personal interst in Iaijutsu training as well as defensive combat weapons including pistol, carbine rifle, shotgun and bladed weapons. He currently holds a 6th degree black belt in Bushido Kai Karate.
Dennis moved to Tyler in 2000 and immediately became involved with the Colonial Hills Karate Program. Dennis is an active Deacon at Colonial Hills Baptist Church and has served as the chairman of the Deacon body.
Dennis has earned a Masters Degree in Political Science as well as a bachelors degree in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice. Dennis teaches at the University of Texas at Tyler and Tyler Junior College where he teaches classes in American and Texas Government.
Dennis has been married for 20 years to his wonderful wife Janet, and has two great children, Alyssa and Kaden.
