Turn Your Radio On
We were practicing an old song in Silver Notes (our Sr. Adult Choir) the other day. It is a great old song called “Turn your Radio On”. You know there are dozens of radio stations that spend countless hours studying market research, putting billboards up, advertising on all kinds of media, all to get us to listen to their station. But it doesn’t do a bit of good if we don’t have our radio turned on! There are frequencies all around us, sharing our same space, but we cannot pick them up without a receiver. We may have one in the room, but it doesn’t do any good without it being turned on!
The Psalmist said, “In God we boast all day long, and praise thy name forever.” So many times I have “my praise radio” turned off. It’s not working. It seems to be off when I need it most! God is working all around us. Do you realize that while we slept, God oversaw us as we travelled over 8,000 miles around the sun, but few people realize that our small solar system with our sun are all travelling at 43,200 MPH around the galaxy! WOW! God is at work. I just got back from dove hunting with some great guys from Colonial Hills. You ought to look into going next year. Good times. Anyway, the sunrises were amazing. Now, I’m from East Texas. I’ve always lived no more than a couple of hours away from East Texas. I love the trees, but we were hunting near Waco. I could see the horizon at full 360 degrees. To see that sunrise from that vantage point was breath taking! My point is, there are moments every day to see God, but our soul radios are not on! God has placed a “radio” to all believers. We are able to see and hear God at work when others who don’t know Christ, just can’t. But, what good is that radio when it’s not turned on! In Hebrews 2:12 the Bible says “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of (our) lips giving thanks to his name.”
